Today I’m going to a friends house for preparing some deermeat after his hunt. He managed to shoot one wich he decided to share with me and I am very grateful for that. Wild meat is absolutely the best meat a man can eat because of its high protein content. Much better than cattlemeat. Anyway, we are going to part this deer into steaks and soup and casserole meat. There are about 20 different dinners in a deer and its about 27 kg of meat each. So my freezer will be filled with wild meat. In these expensive times its good to have some free meat people! So this weekend i am making a deer steak with a sauce made from spices from the norwegian woods with 2 cl cognac and sourcream, flour and butter. Then we have norwegian greens from the fields and potatoes. This is an old norwegian tradition when the huntingseason kicks off. And we give gratitude to the nature that provided this meat so we could eat and we show respect to the spirit of the animal we put down. This is the way of the vikings back in the days when they roamed the seas and cultivated the land. This huntingtradition is some of our norwegian legacy we pass down to our children. So today I also gave you all a small insigth into the norwegian huntingtradition asweall as I told you about my todays work for meat. I respect people who do not like huntingtraditions, but due to the regulations of the wild stock they allowe us to hunt. So we hunt on a qouta for 4 animals wich is divided on 8 hunters. The season starts the 5 october and ends 1 desember. Its moose, elk, deer, rabbits, reindeer, grouse, geese, ducks and big birds in the woods. I am not the hunter i am the butcher. So I do all the animals they have and I get a half deer as pay. Good days work and 6 months with meat. Now thats a good tradeoff people! So duty calls so I will return to the bench and proceed with the job. Yes I couldn’t wait. I had to tell you before I finished the job. So have a nice day where ever you are and keep up the good work you do!
