Special dishes…

Do you or your family make any special dishes for the holidays?

Here we have traditional norwegian dishes for the holidays. We have cod in lye, awful dish in my opinion, and we have sheeps head. These are the old old dishes from when vikings roamed! Then we have more “new” dishes like pigs rib, served with sauerkraut, redkraut, potatoes, small sausages, meatballs, pickles and beats and brownsauce. We also like lambribs, with carrotstew, potatoes, sausages and melted butter! Then we make a grit, combined with whipped cream and a red custard for dessert. And we go for whole roasted turkey newyears eve with applestuffing, potatoes, different stews from vegetables, whole vegetables and a nice velvet sauce. Sometimes we have deersteak with wildvegetables, cognac sauce, potatoes, pickles and beats. And I make a very special cake called “Delfiakake” made of chocolate, hazelnuts, walnuts, biscuits and gelé. That is made cold! And it lasts the whole holiday. Very sweet cake! A caloribomb! These are the norwegian holidays dishes wich we traditionally serve every holiday! Even the first christmasday breakfast we have traditional food. Like sourherring in onions, cowstongue, ribroll, scrambled eggs, mayonaise, boiled eggs, something we call cabaret with prawns,eggs,peas in a jello. Now this is the traditional food for the holidays. Here is the kicker: after we took in muslims and ukrainiens here most of us poor norwegian can’t afford this kind of dishes any more. We pay 67% of the income in taxes where 4,5% goes to paying for these “new ones” who is here now. So I can sit and watch outside the supermarced and see norwegians buy chickens and fish and sausages for the holidays while the “new ones” get the full package of their dishes wich we pay for! We import 150 tons of halalmeat for the muslims wich we pay for! Singles get 500.000 nkr annually when they arrive. Familys gets 950.000 annually when they arrive. I get 288 276 annually and I am norwegian born in this country! This is facts! So happy holidays to you all from me! May we all eat good and be nice to eachother!
